I'm a comissioner here in my small town and I do ride alongs on occasion. As long as I don't have to have any confrontations, I'm okay with it. I really like watching a good officer do his job. It's a fine balance to be authoritative withoiut being dominating. And our officers are pretty good at it. Well, most of them, anyway. I did have the officers teach my how to use the radio in case of an emergency.

Can't guarantee "no confrontations" it is the City of Cleveland...... But I can guarantee, you will not be bored

When I had the K-9, Friday evenings were set aside for all of our City Councilmembers and Mayor in my front seat. They always had a great time and I was able to convince them about our PD needs. It was a win-win.
