Hey guys new to the forum, also new to CZ firearms. I'm looking into picking up a cz-P09 was wondering if anybody can give out some pros and cons on the weapon? Any issues that are common or likes dislikes about it?

Thank you!

Thanks haha I did see it's a full size duty gun which is fine. I'm not going to use it as a carry mostly at home and competition events.

Highly recommend both PO-7 and PO-9 . The magwell on my PO-9 does not touch the bottom of my palm . I buy large size gloves .

I use the P07 for duty and love it. The only thing I would recommend is going with the smaller P07. Right now you may think you will not use it for carry but that may change. I own a good amount of pistol and all but one are mid/compact or subcompact size just so I have the option to carry any one of them.

All P-07s are the same size. Maybe you meant that you use a P-09 for duty?

No I use a P07. The smaller of the two between the 09 and 07.
I have the P-07 it's a great gun. The P-09 is great also you can't go wrong either way. The biggest "issue" I know of is don't dry fire it without snap caps. You can damage the firing pin retaining pin. An easy fix is a cheap upgrade to a steel roll pin. I suggest the MCarbo tigger kit it cones withe steel pin and is a good upgrade for a part time compitition set up.

Parker Mountain Machine does make a very nice Comp if you’re interested. It is made out of 7075 aluminum.
Great purchase! The P09 is basically the all metal CZ 75 with a polymer lower. Take a look at Cajun Gun Works website for tuning ideas on an already great handgun. Mine eats everything I feed it without any feed or ejection issues. She is a sweet shooter but I have a CZ P10 for concealed carry due to her size.

Isn't the P-09 a polymer frame?
I would recommend a metal frame: SP-01 family, though the tradition CZ 75s are good pistols also.
A hand tremor is the reason that I go with metal frames -- they are heavier and tamp down on the shaking. My shooting is more accurate.

Does the P-09 have the same lower bore axis as the 75s & SP-01 family?
I've not looked for his on the P series but I do know the low bore axis helps me with accuracy.
The combination of weight and low bore axis are the main reasons that I use the SP-01 family.

I wouldn’t hesitate to get a P-09 or P-07, which are essentially polymer framed versions of the SP-01 Tactical and P-01 respectively. With either the P-09 or -07, the Omega trigger system will allow you to change between safety and de-cocker. Also, the backstraps can be changed for your grip size preference.
if you want to do a visual size compare with them to each other, or other pistols, check out handgunhero.com
FYI - if you decide to consider a P-07, DO NOT buy a Gen 1 ”Duty” model. They have a frame weakness / cracking problem, and do not have front slide serrations or changeable backstraps.
hope this helps

The 75 and SP-01 don't really have a low bore axis. People often mistake the low profile slide as a sign of a low bore axis.

Bore axis is the vertical distance from where the hand meets the beavertail to the center of the bore. It's quite a bit higher on hammer-fired pistols than what it is on most striker fired pistols. The length of the hammer sees to that.

The bore axis height is about 1.25" on my 75, Shadow 2, P-07, and P-09. It's barely 3/4" on my P-10F, P-10C, and Glocks 17 and 19.
The P09 is basically the all metal CZ 75 with a polymer lower.
No, they're not even close.

The firing pin, firing pin spring, and hammer spring are the only parts that interchange. The entire trigger mechanism is different, the recoil spring is different, the slides don't interchange, and even the barrel to slide lock up is completely different.

You would be right if you were talking about the SP-01 Phantom.

Conceptually they're similar. Mechanically they're completely different with only very few parts that interchange between the P-07/P-09 and the steel or aluminum frame non-Omega CZs

Agree with this

Or sticking a small o-ring over the back of the firing pin.
I should have been more accurate - my comparison was for general size only. The omega guns are completely different internally.
