Disillusioned with the NRA

OK, I get the point that it's their job to maximize the dollars we contribute to the cause, but I recently purchase a hat from the NRA and the damn thing was made in China. I don't know why but I was really disgusted and disappointed. I think for that alone I won't re-up my membership.

I've been getting a call per month asking me for more money, and they offer that China made knife or some other crap.

It's starting to get irritating.

Not to mention, I was an NRA certified instructor on a few things, for Boy Scouts. It costs a ton, and they make no allowance, its not like I do this to get people to pay me for training, but you must pay to get certified, or you don't get certified. And they have the BSA totally under their thumb, so if you have no NRA cert, you can't do the shooting with the boys. So, in my AO...no one can go shooting unless they go to a camp where the instructor is a paid employee.

It's like the ONLY thing the NRA is about, is the money. If those high priced lawyers and lobbyists all believe in our rights...why do they need to be paid so freaking much? How about when they visit DC, they stay in a Motel 6 and eat some delivery pizza like the rest of us? Seriously, I could cut their budget overnight. Quit paying people to call me, quit sending out mass mailings every few weeks, and lets cut wages to the guys getting rich running the show. Did you know that LaPierre makes about $840K a year base pay, plus another $120K in other pay?

THAT'S a crock of you know what.

They only spend about 18% of the money raised on the bosses and fundraising...that's not too bad, but still...

Well I'm done with them.
Easy , fellas. Please pause and reflect for a moment.
You are right, most of the " incentives " offered by the NRA are made in China. The fact is that most everything is made in China. I'm sure that the NRA just like me and you would prefer to buy goods that are manufactured locally. Due to the stifling corporate tax rates, environmental restrictions, impending carbon taxes and obomacare, it's hard to find anything manufactured here anymore.
As to the never ending fund raising, well yeah we are fighting a never ceasing global effort to take our guns and ammunition. The anti gun people don't rest and constantly try by hook or crook to chip away at our constitutional rights. I for one thank God that the NRA is tirelessly working on my behalf. They persevere as they must, lest we all suffer the consequences of inaction. We all grow weary of hearing about the latest assault on our rights, but if we let up for even a while, it will be like not breathing. Stop long enough and you lose.
As far as the high paid lawyers, if we don't pay for the very best, our enemies will. I never want the second best lawyer in the room!
The NRA is imperfect to be sure. We can all find fault in them, but in my humble opinion we might just be better off by finding common ground and by working from within to improve things than by fighting amongst ourselves and giving in to frustrations.

Points well taken, but I'm rather disgusted by the whole damn thing.
Once I found out Wayne Lapierre is a Vietnam draft dodger I canceled my subscription. His lottery number was I think 97 his family money and a doctor said he had a nervous disorder.
Well he doesn't need to be around guns.
Or my money!
