Hi there. I'm a proud new owner of a CZ 527 youth model 7.62x39 carbine. I absolutely love it. As a Christmas gift to myself, I decided to get a scope for it. I have, on the way by mail currently, Warne Medium rings and a Leupold Ultralight 3-9. I have heard that people often need to either go with high rings and/or a custom (ie, Calhoon) bolt handle in order to clear the scope. Most (all actually) scopes that I have seen recommended for this rifle have had an eyepiece of 1.6" or 1.61". The leupold ultralight model that I have on order only has an eyepiece diameter of 1.40". This gives me an additional .1" radial clearance. At first, I thought to myself that I had out-thought the problem. Then I realized that .1" is really not much extra room at all. SO- does anyone have an answer to this: Will my ultralight scope work (1.4" diameter at eyepiece) with the regular bolt handle and medium warne rings, or do I need to do something else to get this to work? If I need to do something else, what do you suggest? High rings, new handle, or perhaps even just have a gunsmith carve out a groove into the existing handle and blue it? Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks!
