Since no one else has bothered, I might as well. I like the extended effective distance Federal's FliteControl wad gives my 00 buck. Shooting a Remington 870 12 gauge, modified choke, I get decent patterns at 25 yards, and would feel pretty secure of having significant impact if I took a carefully aimed shot at an average sized adult at 30 yards with that ammunition.
Hornady has a special shot cup that produces essentially equal results as does the FliteControl wad.
Other commercial buckshot I've tried pretty much limits my willingness to shoot to 20 yards because of the shot spread being too wide. I'm a hefty guy, but my chest is only about 20 inches across and vital zone is about 16 inches of that.
