P-01/PCR/Compact Grip pattern recommendations for carrying - wow what a huge variety!

Just picked up a P-01 and planning to carry it soon (after 500 rounds or so), but the oem rubber grips kinda stick to my clothes. There is a huge variety of g-10 grips out there, and I'm thinking the grenade or snake patterns (I think those are Cool Hand) seem to be the least aggressive on my clothes. Let me hear your thoughts. Please provide pics too.
I've seen the Guun, VZ and Cool Hand at fairly reasonable prices, so I'd like to stay in the $30 - $65 range if possible.

Been carrying a P01 fot sometime. You made a great choice. Easy to conceal, not to heavy and all steal.

Enjoy

LOK Bogies offer incredible grip but clothes slide right over them. They come in thin (about the same as CZ OEM aluminum grips), standard (about 1.25" across when on the gun), and palm swells (same profile as OEM rubber grips) styles.

All for $65

I've had all the brands you already mentioned and I no longer buy anything other than LOK. All photos credit to LOK Grips.

Hey thanks for that, El Guapo. I don't want this to come across as too much of a penny pincher, but I picked up a pair of Cool Hands for $20, and they seem to work pretty well. Much thinner than the stock rubber ones. I'll be testing them out this weekend. Since this is my first foray into the CZ all-metal hammer gun world, I think I'll step in gently for $20 rather than paying $70 for now. I'll bookmark your site, so I can add some more expensive grips going forward.

Can you help me understand some of the differences/benefits between the LOK and the Cool Hands, Guun and VZ?

  1. LOK and VZ fit on the guns with much less variation than the bargain basement brands.
  2. LOK and VZ have textures available that provide significantly better traction in the hands than anything else
  3. LOK has three different thicknesses to choose from

LOL, I hope it was not "all steal" but "all steel" so I don't have to lock mine up when you are around Bruce! :D

I recently purchased this new P01 SDP which came with CZ Custom aluminum grips. I really hate checkering on grips and these grips come without checkering. They're smooth, which feels great in my hands, and thinner for a more concealable grip. They have a cutout section of the grips for an insert that is like sandpaper, grippy material. I'd prefer they didn't have the cutout because I don't need or want that section of grippy area.

I have a regular P01 and I like these grips so much that I purchased a set from CZ Custom for it. They include the grippy material (has an adhesive on the backside to place in the aluminum grip cutouts). I left these grippy material pieces off of my P01. CZ Custom sells these smooth aluminum grips for Compact and P01 models for $85, which is above the Op's requested range. But, well worth the cost.

The P-01 isn't all steel. The frame is aluminum. The slide is steel.
po1 has alloy frame
The P-01 frame is made of an aluminum alloy (pure aluminum is extremely soft and not hardenable).

But steel is also an alloy (of iron, carbon, and several other elements) so saying the frame is alloy doesn't clarify.

It's best to just say the frame is aluminum and leave it at that.

Actually the P-01 is a Forged Aluminum Alloy frame, which is stronger than just Aluminum and lighter than steel. A very nice gun, and I also prefer the CZ 75D PCR which is of the same frame material.

Are you sure the frame is made from a forging? Are you sure it isn't made from a casting just like CZ steel frames are?
The CZ website reads...
The PCR name stands for ‘Police Czech Republic,’ the group for whom the model was originally designed. Nearly identical in size to the CZ 75 Compact, it weighs in at a full 1/4 pound lighter owing to its forged aluminum frame, making it more comfortable for everyday carry. Very similar to the P-01, the PCR uses the same alloy frame minus the light rail, making it even more concealable.

Understand you have already made your choice.

But i totally agree with above. And not just for my carry guns. Most of my CZs wear LOK Grips.

AND Agree with this.

LOK Grips are excellent on every standard.

Already have order for another pair for one of my original Belgium BHPs.

Also pleased with multiple grips from mentioned VZ. Both companies are top tier.
