Went out to feed the cats late today. Sat down to pet them a bit. Then I hear, it, Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, which makes the cats jump off the patio table and go to the wall next to me. About 3 feet away, I saw what looked like a large cow pattie, well I can't see well at all now. I could make the thing out after staring at it, could see the outlines of the body. Having only a TCP .32 with me and FMJs, I decided it was not a good idea to shoot at it cause I might just get an FMJ back at me off the wall.
Went back to the door and got a Mossy 715T with a loaed mag. Figured the .22s would splatter on the patio after penetration and do more damage. Had to chase the cats away, which by then had really pizzed the snake off. Gave it a triple tap across the body, which hurt it bad. Can't see well enough for any head shots these day. Couldn't even see the head. Rather than wsste ammo, I finished it off with a shovel.
A nice specimen of a Western Diamondback. Pic of it on 2 patio bricks. Had problems trying to stretch it out. It was almost 3 patio bricks, which are 18" wide each. So @ 4.5 feet long sor so.

The "prize." The rattle is only 4 segments, so its not real old, but pretty big.
