It really depends on how you like to carry and the carry laws in your state. In Oklahoma, we have open carry, which affords us a broad array options.

Since you have a j-frame, it shouldn't be difficult to find a good holster. Crossbreed, FoxX, Aker, Looper, R Grizzle, Don Hume, Raven, Alabama, UBG, Milt Sparks, the list goes on and on. Do you want leather or kydex? Maybe a combo leather/kydex. Do you want to carry inside or outside the waistband? Maybe Small of the Back? Shoulder system? Ankle?

I carry my j-frame and/or LCR in an Akers OWB leather holster. It has good retention and is well made.

I advise folks to steer clear of the nylon one-size-fits-none pieces of junk. They are worth less than what you paid for them. If you're going to carry a $400-$1,000 tool, its sole purpose being to preserve you and your loved ones lives, don't put it in a cheap, piece of garbage nylon rig.

One of the best deals I've seen lately is the FoxX Hybrid leather/kydex holster. It can be purchased directly from them or from Amazon for $39! I've got one for my Glock 26 and its good-to-go.

I love my 3Speed Holster Though it it primarily a "DEEP CONCEAL". I am short and pudgy, so digging a firearm out of my crotch is a pain in the you know where. I wear mine at 1:30 (AIWB). Because i am in Gulf Coast Texas in warm /HOT months I wear it 95% of the time in Drawstring shorts (the rest in jeans). I carry every moment i am awake.

Lately, I have been using an old leather Bianchi IWB for my LC9. Use to have my Bersa .380 in it and it fit just fine. Carried both behind the right hip, IWB. I hate using holsters. South Texas is humid. I can sweat the blue off a gun in a few days that way.

For a J frame Mod 60, I had a similar holster by Bianchi. Don't carry the revo much anymore. Got an LCR that fits in the same holster, but I haven't used the LCR for concealed. I usually carry it or the LC9 around the old rancho in my jeans jacket, vest pocket in cold weather like now. We just don't have much cold weather, so IWB with no holster works for me for that too. But if I am clearing brush around the old rancho or fencelines, I usually have a bigger bore SA in a sholder rig.

AL Gal, due to you being a new gun owner go with a OWB holster as you have an exposed hammer (it can easily snag on clothing) and get use to carrying a firearm. You have unlimited choices of materials and styles for a snub nose 38.

I don't have a holster yet. I'm just getting started and getting comfortable having a gun near or on me. Trying to get more practice so I become more at ease.

What about you?
Al Gal, I'm assuming you are a woman. If so, I am VERY EXCITED to have you join us here. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

If you are very new to guns, take it slow and carefully. It took me quite a while to feel fairly comfortable with guns. I was definitely a "late bloomer". Do you have anybody shooting with you, a husband or friend? It's so important to have a knowledgeable person helping you along.

And I will tell you conceal carry is different for a woman than it is for a man, usually. You need to give us more information so we can better help you.

Again, welcome!!
